Yesterday afternoon at Lucy Group Head Office, a distinguished panel came together to judge the entries for this year’s High Sheriff’s Young Engineer of the Year Award—a celebration of ingenuity, creativity, and the inspiring potential of Oxfordshire’s young people.
Chaired by Richard Dick, Chairman of Lucy Group and himself a former High Sheriff of Oxfordshire, the panel also included the current High Sheriff, John May, alongside an expert group of professionals who generously offered their time and insight: Andrew Linfoot, Jacqueline Stiefel, Caroline Conlon, Matt Bryant, and Mark Vingoe.
Lucy Group, a global engineering and infrastructure business headquartered in Oxford, is deeply committed to championing young talent and fostering innovation. Hosting the judging session for these prestigious awards felt entirely in keeping with that commitment—supporting the next generation of problem-solvers, designers and trailblazers.
The standard of entries this year was nothing short of outstanding. At times, a thoughtful hush filled the room as judges pored over the submissions—impressed by the enthusiasm, technical skill, and originality on display. These young engineers are tackling real-world challenges with curiosity, determination and flair.
Warm thanks to everyone involved in the judging process, and congratulations to all who were nominated. Your work is already making a difference.
We look forward to celebrating the winners and nominees at the Awards Ceremony on 16th June, where Oxfordshire’s young engineering talent will rightly take centre stage.
