Oxfordshire Youth

Oxfordshire Youth is a boundary-breaking organisation, passionate about creating a future for and with young people that gives them the best possible opportunity to realise their potential. Everyone who works for and with us, each young person engaging with our services and everybody that trains with us is a force for positive change.

Our mission is to meet the needs and aspirations of young people by providing access to safe spaces and trusting relationships within which they can be themselves, develop new skills, and make positive change happen in their lives and their communities. And society needs change-makers.

Oxford consistently ranks in the the top three most expensive places to live in the UK, and its iconic dreaming spires symbolise the freedom that privilege offers. However a quarter of children in the city grow up below the poverty line, and whilst Oxfordshire as a whole ranks within the 10% of least deprived places in England, it includes seven areas falling within the 10% most deprived nationally.

Now more than ever before, youth work support is essential in ensuring that our young people have access to decent housing and development opportunities that enable them to move into adulthood with the confidence, social and emotional competencies and practical skills that we all need to succeed.

To further our mission: we run training courses in schools and colleges across the county, we educate youth work staff, parents and carers and Oxfordshire Youth is proud to have been commissioned by Oxfordshire County Council, working in partnership with housing provider Response, to offer supported accommodation for young adults leaving the care system and unaccompanied asylum seekers.

For over 70 years, Oxfordshire Youth has been the backbone of Oxfordshire’s youth sector. We are deeply committed to meeting the changing needs of grassroots organisations working with children and young people aged 0 to 25, both those that have continued to do so during COVID-19 times, and those currently struggling to go on.

Together, we will redefine the youth sector in Oxfordshire and give young people facing multiple challenges the chance to thrive, not just survive.
